Dear Diary,
While cleaning a closet I found some onions that had sprouted long green stalks.
I put them in pots of earth in the veranda and I hope they’ll grow in to real plants instead of being vampire onions that live and kill in the dark. Hec is in Denmark and he says that everyone at Odin is a hippie. His body hurt from all the exercises.
I think I’ve drank at least 2 liters of green tea already. Pissing like a mad man.
Can’t wait to have my hair cut for the movie, it’s bugging me like hell. Too long, almost neck-length.
I’ll be shooting from June 5th to August 10th or something like that.

Dear Diary, today’s a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l day. It’s Easter morning and the city is empty. Hec is at the airport on his way to Denmark to do a workshop at Odin. For a week. Creepers. He’s eating broccoli pie right now, I just spoke with him on his cell. Praying for his safe return.

Dear Diary,
Athens is quite an exhausting city. It really drains me. Bores me. Tires me.
Perhaps a plague could wipe out 94% of Athenians.
Anyway, thank God for a few (6%) good men and women.

Let introduce you to her.
Diary this is Lela.
Lela, meet Diary.
She’s my store window mannequin, beautiful and curvaceous. Made in plaster sometime in the 60s. She has inset glass eyes and huge lashes made of some natural fiber. I bought her ages ago and she’s never let me down.
She now lives on my veranda* adorned by an adoring jasmine plant climbing up her thigh and a collection of ever changing human hair wigs that I get for her. I study her long, flowing hair’s movement as it moves in the light breeze, in a gust of stormy wind, it mesmerises me. And how rain turns her dejected and forlorn but then, she’s all dry and joyful after the sun comes out. How the different shades of hair change after the unforgiving sun eats them up. I can always count on Lela. She’s broken her wrist after sustaining a nasty fall last winter but it’s healing nicely.

*When I first propped her up by the balcony railing, the old man living in the top floor apartment across the street from mine, yelled:

“But.. whyyy?!..”

Delivery rehearsal at Nikos’ house.
I was so blank today. I don’t know why.
He was annoyed with me.

I’m kicking all of my books out of my study to make more room for dolls.
I’ll just keep my childhood books and some essays on film.
Gaudi’s book stays. Edward Gorey’s books as well.
The History of Porn too.
I ate 5 chocolate bars today.

Damn Friday groundhog mornings!
Every Friday morning at 9am, Georgia, the cleaning lady gets to work banging on everything and I can’t sleep in. Then she messes with my stuff misplacing scissors, fabric, my mobile, you name it and knocks down meticulously positioned toys & I should find something to wear with Georgia around, as I’m bare ass naked all the time.. Ebay is on a maintenance break so I can’t zone out surfing for treasures.

Safe and sound at home. This new cast member won’t shut up.
On and on about how the script needs changes and kept suggesting additional lines for his character. Pathetic. I was just tapping my pen on my script and didn’t say a word or make eye contact. He’s trouble.
Other then that, Spring is here. It was a very sweet afternoon.

I love Tove Jansson
This is my most favorite book [given to me when i was 9 or 10]
It’s called Trollkarlens Hatt. It’s got the best illustrations!

Has anyone read Maria Gripe’s Hugo and Josephine? I must have read it about 100 times.
Imagine, two kids in Sweden in the early 60s. Both geeks, nobody speaks to them. Totally relatable.

Sunday, April 6th, 2003

Had a rehearsal today for “Delivery”. The first day I went out of the apartment since I caught the flu actually. It went quite well. We read through the rest of the scenes I have with Alexia and we tried stuff and improvised.

The director, Nikos Panagiotopoulos:
rehearsal

I drank white wine and ate apples. Using the metro is nice. Clean and so fast. Rushed home as soon as I was done.

Leslie Cheung killed himself on April Fool’s day.
“According to eyewitnesses, Cheung went to a cafe on the 24th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at about 4 p.m. A regular, he ordered an iced lemon drink, a glass of ice water, an apple and a packet of cigarettes. Waiters recall that Cheung, dressed in an elegant suit, seemed restless and kept walking all over the cafe.”
